1DAY6CITIES Project goes live

1DAY6CITIES is a global photography project that took place on the 11th November 2011 - 11.11.11, in London, Dubai, Shanghai, Auckland, San Francisco and São Paulo. Using word of mouth, email and social networks an international team of photographers were put together to create a unique twenty-four hour snapshot of this day across six very different cities around the globe.

At exactly 00.00 Coordinated Universal Time (world time/GMT) photographers in each of these cities captured their first image in an event that saw photographs being taken every 30 seconds for the following 24 hours. The brief was for the photographers to shoot the most interesting thing happening in their city, at the time they had chosen to shoot.

Last year I was one of the photographers involved in creating this project and it is wonderful to see the final results of the 24 hour time-lapse of the world finished and pressed...a big round of applause for everyone involved!

the website showcasing the project is now live at 1day6cities check out for yourself.

Clerkenwell Design Week

It's that time of the year again for the inspiring Design week in Clerkenwell and recently I took some photographs of designer Fay McCaul's latest pieces which will be involved in this years exhibition, here's a couple of photos from the day...This piece seen here is called the 'Vela Screen' , each knitted panel of the oak framed 4-panel room divider has over 1000 iridescent acrylic squares embedded into the cotton yarn. Acting like stained glass the acrylic squares shift colour from blues and mauves to silvers and golds depending on the light.

Fay McCaul is a london based designer who mixes modern materials - fibre optics and incandescent acrylic - with traditional knitting methods to create clever interior accessories, room dividers and installations.

See her full collection at the show from the 22-24th May.

Landshapes aka Lulu and the Lampshades

A few months ago I did a little promo shoot with this lovely band and today they officially announced their new name 'Landshapes' along with some new mesmeric sounds to listen to and enjoy....
This is one of the photos created from the shoot consisting of a series of long exposures combined with film images from my travels around the world, the faded image is of Jackie Kennedy's Penthouse in Meganissi in the Greek Islands where she stayed regularly in the summer periods during her marriage to Greek millionaire Aristotle Onassis in 1968...

Tiger

A couple of photographs from a recent collaboration with the wonderful Alexandros Vasmoulakis
I heard through the grapevine Alexandros was currently in the UK and not one for missing out on opportunities I got in touch with him to say 'hey' ...a few days later we both made plans to be free, named a time and place then ventured out to the streets in search of bits and pieces to create a ''masterpiece'' in extension to his existing 'Installation' project.  After rummaging through a few bins this was the result, nick named 'Tiger' this ones just for fun and abit of an experiment. Watch this space for more creations with Mr Vasmoulakis...
