Shoes and Socks Off

The past few weeks have been a pleasant blur of photo-shoots of all different kinds, shapes for a mixture of reasons,
One of which was this one 'Shoes and Socks Off' aka Tobias Hayes aka Tobyyy.
I met Toby properly a few weeks ago at a gig and asked him if I could take his portrait. He said 'maybe'...a few emails of banter later we met for coffee, disappeared to nowhere in particular and began taking photos.

Here are a few from my time spent with him, he was also kind enough to invite me to rehearsals the following day to shoot 'the shoes and socks off band' (who apparently have never been photographed together before) so I guess perhaps the last two photos are a kind of "exclusive"
- ta dar.

my thanks to Toby for refreshing conversation and being a lovely subject to photograph.

-Oliver Barrett's Beatles illustrations for the 'Charting the Beatles project' are quite special amongst other bits...
It's pretty cool have a click and a flick.

A few photos from a recent photo shoot for Brownsfashion.com
I have been fortunate to photograph a few editorial shoots for Browns recently, this one was great to be involved with, it was and is for the launch of the New Browns website happening soon, the vibe was 'Lanvin' and it involved men and woman.
A fun yet ambitious shoot and my first experience of photographing with a deaf model which was a fantastic experience, 'Carola' was truly a dream to work with, thankyou!
I look forward to editing and seeing the feature run on the Browns website soooon.

Tangled Hair

A photo from a 'press shoot' I had with these lovely boys.
I originally wanted to photograph the band in the day using natural light and had many ideas to do so although, the band weren't available so I had to shoot at night when they were...*slight panic at that thought although, the shoot went ahead and we managed to find this amazing source of light in a passing warehouse space that was being used so I set each of the boys up by it and captured an individual portrait of each of them.
It was a fun shoot and great to work with these guys, *thanks for not letting me fall in the canal.

Tangled Hair are touring at the moment and have an EP coming out soon.

FIASCO is a monthly print and digital fashion magazine featuring new and existing talent, fashion, reviews, interviews, art and illustration.
This weekend I had the joy of Assisting photographer Andrew Harvey on a shoot for the next print issue coming out in June SS/11.

-Andrew wanted to catch the sharp morning blue light so we/the team all started at the crack of dawn on location in west london, the sun was out in all its glory and so we decided to use natural light throughout the shoot, it was a challenge yet fun maintaining the lighting with the various reflectors and bound boards we had on the go! although, it was an awesome day with lush weather and some beautiful photography created...
Looking forward to seeing the full feature and photos in the mag soon-ish.
*more sunshine please.

Bonobo DJ set/London

A little bunch of photos from a recent ish DJ set from the magnificent Bonobo a few weeks ago, only just got round to editing them*, I took many photos throughout the night and managed to escape the jam packed crowd and sneak around the back of the stage a little at one point  - admittedly these are perhaps not my best although, I prefer these closer/side photos to the 'front on' stage shots I took, represents the mood and intensity of Mr Green well. in my opinion.
the lighting was a bit dodgy apart from that it was a superb night full of life and spirit, very much looking forward to see him play London again in April...

the masterful and talented photographer Mel Bles has done it again and created an amazing piece of work! ,this time a video for Missoni S/S 2011 campaign. A follow on from her Dazed&Confused fashion video in 2010, full of familiar fashion faces and colourful patterns it's pretty darn cool.
-Mel tutored me/my year at university for a period of time and I have adored her photography since, I'm a big fan of all her work, particularly her photography produced on film which maintains a raw natural beauty that has always inspired me ! It's wonderful to see her producing something fresh and new...

what's next up up her silky sleeve?

*sneakypeek

-A few 'behind the scenes' pics from a photo shoot I did for Brownsfashion.com last week.
This time it was on location in a gorgeous and simply massive house in Knightsbridge, *a wow situation I found myself in, taking me outside the comfort of shooting in the studio. (which I quite liked)
It was actually a challenge to get my head around at first re; lighting and making sure 'it was right' although, with alot of creative chat and banter with the team everything seemed to flow as we made our way through each of the rooms deciding each shot...
It was a fantastic shoot and experience, really looking forward to seeing the final results on the New Browns website soon.

*thankyou Hugo for being a wonderful assistant, I owe you a pint.
