Diseñando Para Guanabacoa / Jonathan Gales

Film by the wonderfully talented Jonathan Gales, Diseñando Para Guanabacoa is a short film about a British student studying in Havana, Cuba. Exploring cultural differences between Cuba and Britain, Diseñando Para Guanabacoa expresses musings of emotion and culture alongside banal routine activity.

Diseñando Para Guanabacoa was made by sequencing still photographs recorded on a DSLR at 6 frames per second similar to the process of stop motion.
...I like this alot.

S is for Summer.

this post welcomes the first image from a little documentary project I've been shooting the past few weeks...just got some films back so thought I'd post a pic*
It's a short project in celebration of the summer season -I plan to document the hazy summer days of two thousand+eleven by exploring and observing the close proximity of group behaviour in various social arrangements found in public places...
I like this crop, just framing the grass and maintaining the wide letterbox crop makes an interesting depth of field.
Hope to get some interesting shots/more to come.

I've temporarily named it 'Summer Fruit' . for now.
see how it goes.

Laura Hocking & The Long Goodbye

A few images from a recent shoot with this lovely bunch aka Laura Hocking & The Long Goodbye.
I've been a fan of Laura's music for a while now so it was awesome to have the chance to also do some photography with her and the band.
It was a wonderful day filled with many things from doughnuts, ale, some singing and roast chicken...
Thanks guys for such a brilliant day and James for your mega arm strength.

they've a few gigs coming up, catch them if you can...

Poised

Brownsfashion decided to celebrate the creative talents of it's web team today and publish a shoot recently created with friend Lewis Chong.
I posted a few behind the scenes pictures from this shoot (meant for Binary magazine) a few weeks ago, although we showed 'Browns' our images and they asked us if we wanted to run it as a feature shoot on their website...
we said yes and so I started the edit process...the shoot's quite heavily retouched -many hours spent lassoing* although I'm happy with the result so it was worth it. Looking forward to creating more.

What a day!..If you were there, it was all about 'Bushstock Festival' in Shepherds Bush this weekend, these pictures are some of my personal highlights from the day at St Stephens Church - Daughter, The Staves and Fink.
Cloud Control, Lucy Rose, Peggy Sue were also my fav's and played awesome sets...

thank you sunshine and lovely people for making a wonderful day even better !

A photo from when Bonobo played at Koko, London this year, I took my 35mm for a ride that night and thought I'd take a few shots of the show if I could get close enough...although I soon realised when I was poised and ready to take my first shot I only had 3 frames left! and un characteristically forgot to pack more film* nevertheless I tried to make the most of them. This is one of those 3 frames, of the wonderful Andrea Trianya who featured in the show.

-I've 'posted' it as a reminder to myself to consider my images more /my composition and overall shot. Shooting Digitally on a regular basis sometimes this gets lost and find you end up taking unnecessary shots of a subject, this picture is one of the reasons why I love film.

I've left it un edited as I love the colours going on in it, I remember the lighting being quite dark although the soft halo around her from one of the lights captures the atmosphere of that moment during the show well..
